Color Challenge 116

This is the first color challenge that I have done when it was posted. I actually stamped these on Monday night as the SCS color challenge #116 for Tuesday was posted early.

This week's challenge was to use Garden Green, Cool Caribbean and Chocolate Chip. Garden Green is a color I never use! The sketch design is from SCS sketch challenge #86.

Supplies
Stamps: Paper Trey - Green Thumb
Paper: garden green, cool caribbean, chocolate chip, Basic Grey paper for 6x6 Phoebe pad, whisper white
Ink: garden green, cool caribbean, chocolate chip
Accessories: blue ribbon from Jody's share

Seeing as I had a piece of the Basic Grey paper left I decided to do another with the same color combination and stamp set. I am really liking using these sets from Paper Trey (I just got Little Lady and Paper Tray in the mail so look for some cards from that new set soon!) The sketch design is from SCS sketch challenge #29.

Supplies
Stamps: Paper Trey - Green Thumb, Canvas Background by Stampin' Up
Paper: garden green, chocolate chip, Basic Grey paper for 6x6 Phoebe pad, whisper white
Ink: garden green, cool caribbean,
Accessories: marvy giga scalloped circle and mega circle

My Mother

This image reminds me of a mother on a beach. Not necessarily my mother, as we are from Saskatchewan and can't say that we have any beaches you would go looking for shells on.

This card is from the watercoloring class we did for my Stamp Club at the beginning of May. The watercolor technique used on this one was watercoloring with reinkers/stamp pads.

Supplies (all Stampin' Up)
Stamps: Seaside Sketches (retiring on June 30th), Weathered Background, Reason to Smile Hostess Level 1
Paper: Regal Rose, Whisper White, Cool Carribean, Paisley and Petals DS paper
Ink: regal rose, cool carribean, chocolate chip
Accessories: ticket corner punch

Brown is Beautiful

I participated in a swap on the Stampin' Up Demo yahoo group called Brown is Beautiful. Judith Burns was the hostess and she is also here in Alberta. The card were postmarked for May 15th and now are on the way back to us. Mine will be here by Wednesday as I had an expresspost envelope plus I'm so close to her.

All supplies were to be Stampin' Up and could only use browns and vanilla. I really liked the card I ended up with. Who would have thought that a brown flower could look so good. The design is from SCS sketch challenge #68.

Supplies (all Stampin' Up)
Stamps: Heartfelt Thanks
Paper: Au chocolat designer series, close to cocoa, chocolate chip, very vanilla
Ink: close to cocoa, chocolate chip
Accessories: brown grosgrain

I CASED Myself

After coming up with the design for the card I made for Shane's Wish. I decided I wanted to make another with the same design. I still had the Stampin' Up Riveting set out and the 'Welcome Little One' reminded me that I have no baby cards on hand. I grabbed the Paper Trey - Green Thumb set and went to work creating a boy and a girl card. The cuttlebug backgrounds really do add a dimension to the cards.

Supplies
Stamps: Stampin' Up Riveting, Paper Trey Green Thumb
Paper: Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Cool Carribean, Taken with Teal, Whisper White
Ink: White Craft Ink, Black, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Cool Carribean, Taken with Teal
Accessories: Marvy Giga Scalloped circle and Mega circle punches, Stampin' Up 1-3/8" circle and 1-1/4" circle punches, polka dot ribbon from Michaels, Baby A2 cuttlebug folder

The sketch was my own design but the color choice was from SCS color challenge #113.

Paper: Taken with teal, cool carribean, summer sun

Halifax Wedding

One of the reasons we choose to go to Halifax now to visit Ian's family as his cousin, Gabrielle Tompkins is getting married on Saturday this long weekend. We thought it would be nice to go, see all his family and then still have a week left to go to Cape Breton and let Ian catch up with his Nova Scotia friends and family.

These are the items I altered for the bride and groom. (excuse the reflect of me taking the picture!) I altered the frame and box from Michaels using the Enchante papers from the Winter mini. The bride and groom on the card is an unmounted I have from Rubber Stamp Avenue. We've put a gift certificate in the box from Linen n'things for the happy couple.

Supplies (all SU! unless indicated)
Stamps: Taggers Dozen (winter mini), Bride/Groom (Rubberstamp Avenue), On this day ... (Peddler's Pack)
Ink: Black Stazon, perfect plum
Paper: Enchante DS paper (winter mini), perfect plum, pale plum, whisper white
Accessories: pewter brads (hodgepodge), cuttlebug oval slider, light orchid & moss grosgrain ribbon, primas

Butterfly Resist

I made this card back in March but for some reason have never posted it. I used embossing resist on glossy paper as the technique with the Winter Mini set called Butterfly of Happiness. I personally think this set will make the big catty as the Flutterby set was retired and there are no butterfly sets left. Butterfly of Happiness is more of a line art set which tends to be the trend now. I love the words stamps in this set as well.

Supplies (all supplies SU unless indicated)
Stamps: Butterfly of Happiness
Paper: Summer Sun, Really Rust, glossy white
Ink: Colorbox pigment ink, Basic Black
Technique: Embossing Resist

Happy Mother's Day!

I know that a Mother's Day wish is a few days early but, my Mom flies in tonight so I won't be online much between now and Sunday evening.

We are going dress shopping for my Mom's 'Mother of the Bride' dress. This is also the first Mother's Day weekend we have spent together since I finished university. It will be a great weekend as a weekend with my Mom always is. Ian is heading north to Edmonton after work on Friday - I guess there is a little too much woman in this house for him this weekend plus he gets his new wheels on his Mini tomorrow and I think he wants to hang with his best friend, Chris as Chris will have a better appreciation for his new 'rubber' - little does he know - I appreciate new rubber just not the kind that goes on a car!

This first picture is my Mother's gift to my Mom. The tin has a set of all 8 Michael's second set of clear stamps and the block that goes with them. I happened to stumble into Michael's at the right time. I also got a set for myself but I only have 7 of them missing the 'girl' one. The baggie contains a whole lot of Bath and Body Works products that I got for my Mom while we were in Vegas. The 'r' is for Rita.

This second picture is Ian's Mom's gift. I am sure she has never got anything like this from Ian before. Here tin contains some loose English breakfast tea, the individual spoon container for the tea and a lotion from Bath and Body Works. I haven't sent this to her as we are going to Halifax on the red eye next Thursday night so on Friday morning (the 18th) we will be able to give her this gift. The 'd' is for Denise!

Supplies:
Stamps: Wild Rose stamp set by Stampin' Up, Home is by PSX
Cardstock: Mellow Moss, Cranberry Crisp, Recollections - all by Stampin' Up
Ink: Cranberry Crisp, Mellow Moss - all by Stampin' Up, Black Versafine
Accessories: More Mustard chalk for rose centers by Stampin' Up, Mellow Moss and Ivory grosgrain, Cranberry Crisp stitched grosgrain all by Stampin' Up, Monograms 'r' and 'd' are undressed Monograms by Basic Grey, Mega scalloped circle by Marvy

Back from Las Vegas!

I've been MIA since last Wednesday as we left to Vegas and just got back at 2 am last night. It was a great trip with some friends but happy to back in my own bed. Hopefully my feet will be rested in a couple of days.

I have a busy week ahead but hope to have a few new things up in the next couple of days.

Thanks for everyone who has been checking in as I am at 1200 hits - at 1500 there will be blog candy!
