Blog Contest for 15K - Color Challenge

ETA: This post will remain on the top of my blog until February 29, 2008.

My blog hit 15,000 hits this weekend and I want to celebrate by having a contest. Scroll down for new posts.

I love using different color combos but, lately I am finding that regal rose and pretty in pink are in all my cards. So my mission, is to not use those colors for the rest of the month. (though I have 3 cards from this weekend that will be posted this week that use those colors!, though I promised stamp club pink and brown only at the end of the month!)

My blog contest for 15,000 is a color challenge. Make a card this month and send me a link or jpg to shannon.grant@shaw.ca and you will be entried to win.

Color combo:
Tempting Turquoise
Basic Black
Almost Amethyst

See my card made with this color combo HERE.

Entries are limited to one per person. Entries must be received by Friday, February 29th by 12 pm MST. On March 1st, I will draw the winner.
I will post a sample using this color combo tomorrow.

Happy Frog

This is one of the other cards I made when the Calgals met up last month. It has taken me a while to post as we are meeting up this weekend again! February has flown by. The next few days are going to be busy as well as my husband is celebrating his 7th birthday on Friday. This is the first time he will have a real birthday since we have been together. And if you still wondering how my husband can be 7 - look at your calendar and see that it is a leap year and I'm not that much of a cradle robber.

Supplies
Stamps: Stampendous
Paper: so saffron, pretty in pink, bazzill coconut swirl smooth
Patterned paper: Two Scoops - Basic Grey
Ink: palette noir
Accessories: Prima Flowers, Limeade Doodlebug brad, May Arts ribbon (Thanks Nancy!)
Watercoloring: prismacolor w. OMS

Cutest kids!

I'm a very biased Auntie but I think these two are the cutest kids! Katelynn and Cooper are my brother's kids. Katelynn is 29 months and 17 months - yes my brother and sil have their hands full but they are the best of friends and when they are away from each other they actually seem a little lost without the other.

This coaster frame is for my Stamp Club tonight - theme is pink and brown. All products are SU only except of course the coasters. I didn't have hinges and didn't have time to go hunt some down in the city so I decided to see if the brads and ribbon would be enough to make it stand up. It worked beautifully.

Products (all SU!)
Stamps: A Beautiful Thing
Paper: purely pomegranate, close to cocoa, whisper white
Patterened paper: Berry Bliss
Ink: close to cocoa craft spot
Accessories: purely pomegranate double stitched ribbon, pretty in pink brads, irredescent ice embossing powder

My coasters were purchased through a share with some gals in Calgary. Thanks again Nancy for organizing this way back when. I think I'm half way through my first pack - 200 more to go!

One week left

Just a reminder!

There is one week left to get an entry in for my blog contest.

Winner gets 2 Riley Moose stamps from Hanna Stamps!

For more information, see this POST.

Grape Day

I still have a bit of a headache/migraine but I did come into the office. It is nice and quiet here so far. Hopefully, that continues throughout the day.

I made this card at the beginning of the month when the Cal-gals (Allison, Nancy and Tracy) and I got together. I hadn't had my House Mouse stamps out in awhile so I decided that night I would do this one.

I have a 2 more cards that are half done that use the Spring Time set that was released last night at midnight EST from Hanna Stamps. I hope to get those done and up this weekend.

I hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm planning to go to the Grand Opening of The Scrapbook Pantry tomorrow as well as do some shopping for Ian's birthday next week. He will be 7(x4) on February 29th - this is the first time that he will have a real birthday to celebrate since we have been together. When we first started dating, I tried to say if he only got a birthday every 4 years then he should only get a gift eery 4 years - he didn't go for that one. Seeing as his birthday is on a Friday, I am going to throw him a party at our house.

Supplies
Stamps: House Mouse and sentiment (Stampendous)
Paper: regal rose, pretty in pink, certainly celery, Bazzill coconut swirl smooth
Patterned paper: Two Scoops (Basic Grey)

Passion Trip

I'm really slow on my sneak peek for today. I had a 4 day weekend but didn't have any mojo to stamp. I colored some images last night and finally got down to busy late this afternoon with making my sneak peeks for the Hanna Stamps release for this Friday.

There will be two sets featuring 'Hanna' release on Friday, February 22nd. I am featuring Route 66 which is a motorcycle Hanna. The rest of the Design Team has done a great job featuring all the stamps in a scenery. I'm all about the bike.

I will be posting a card with a sneak peek everyday this week - however, to see all the Design Team cards, check out the our gallery in SCS. keyword: hsdt

The 'Two Roads' stamp is my favorite poem. My Grade 10 English teacher made us memorize it and I still know a lot of the poem by heart. I found this stamp a long time ago it was made by PSX, who is no longer in business but have had their images purchased by a long chain of companies. I don't think this one remains in rubber.

Supplies
Stamps: Route 66 - Hanna Stamps (to be released Feb 22), Two Roads - PSX
Paper: pixie pink, pink passion, going gray, bazzill cocunut swirl smooth
Ink: basic grey, palette noir
Accessories: Prima Sprites - grey, fushia glitter dots, primascolor w. OMS

Moon on a Limb

Here is the first card I made with last month's PaperTreyrelease 'Out on a Limb'.

It is a gorgeous day in Calgary at 11 degrees C - all the nasty snow we got on Wed is melting away. Its the type of day if you don't have wiper fluid you won't be going far. Ian and I are meeting my Mom at the airport tonight as she flies through to Regina from 2 weeks vacationing in Arizona. She has 2.5 hours in Calgary so we will have a quick dinner at the Airport. I also have an order from Stampin Up for her so she will be happy.

Its a 4 day weekend for me though I did go into the office for 3 hours today to do a few things and will have some work throughout the weekend. I guess that is one of the joys of working in a gas field where you can only access your wells for 3 months of the year.

Hope everyone enjoys there weekend. I will be back posting on Monday - and on Tuesday the sneak peeks for the new Hanna Stamp sets to be released next Friday will start!

Supplies
Stamps: Out on a Limb, Take a Bough - PaperTrey Ink
Paper: mellow moss, pretty in pink, cranberry crisp, transparency
Patterned paper: Imaginasce
Ink: stazon cotton white, saddle brown, jet black, versamark
Accessories: SU pink ribbon, Primas, Kaiser Rhinestones, SU irridscent ice embossing powder, Doodlebug sugarcoated brads

What color rose are you?

This is very appropriate for today. I love roses. I can't wait for my 3 step roses from Kitchen Sink Stamps to get here.

You Are a White Rose

You represent youthfulness and purity.

Your vibe: Sweet and heavenly

Falling in love with you: is like falling in love for the first time

Happy Valentine's Day!

This was the last card we did at Stamp Club at the end of January. The girls loved this one and actually they went off the idea I told them at club that the front could be the bra and back, the behind. I actually had enough patterned paper in the package that they were able to do both. The template is from Frances challenge during Virtual Stamp Night at SCS. You can find it here.

Supplies (SU only)
Stamps: Holidays&Wishes, Flower from Priceless
Paper: blush blossom
Patterned paper: cutie pie
Ink: purely pomegranate
Accessories: Template from SCS

This is my sample for my blog color challenge using Almost Amethyst, Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black. It is a strange color combo - but I think it looks quite nice together.

Riley Spoting at CHA

Riley was spotted at CHA with some new images. Riley Moose and Sophie G are by Hanna Stamps. 7 stamps were released on February 1st and some of these will be released in the future however, I don't know the release date from Kristi yet.

Also, did you see my new blog banner. I had seen Frances new banner at StampOwl and commented that I wanted a ladybug banner and to make my blog red, white and black. Well, Tammy volunteered to do a banner for me. Check out her blog at Feathers&Ink. Tammy actually made me 3 banners in which I am going to alternate as I can't pick which is my favorite. There is one weird thing though which might be in the html code that I have no clue how to read - the banner won't stretch across the full top of my blog? Anyone know why?

Wedding Thank You

Just a quick post this morning. This is the criss cross card that I modified to be 6 1/4 x 4 1/4 for our wedding invites so that a 4x6 picture could slip inside the pocket.

I made these in November (80 of them) and send them out in early December to our guests with pictures.

I'm stamping tonight with the Calgals. I'm looking forward to it. Not sure what I am going to do yet. Nancy, Allison and Tracy - I will try to be on time tonight!

Sketch Challenge 159

This card was made as part of my stamping goals to do a weekly challenge. This challenge was from the weekly sketch challenge on SCS, specifically SC159. Something about this card bugs me, as it didn't come out as I had it in my head. I think its the patterned paper with the blue. It just didn't go with the card in the end.

It is back to work today after having 2 days off to be with Ian for his surgery. I'm excited though as on Friday night I am going out stamping with the Cal-gals!

Supplies
Stamps: Garden Silhouette - SU retired hostess set
Paper: real red, basic black, whisper white
Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket - Hey Sugar (both sides of PP)

Cutie 3x3

I like to start my stamp clubs with a couple little 3x3. The gals get the initially chatting out of the way and are ready to tackle something a little more complex on the second card.

Ian had ear surgery yesterday and everything went really well. He is actually in very little pain and is moving around good. Though maybe too much and I am scolding him to sit still as the ear is bleeding alot still. He is on the phone with his family in Halifax right now. His brother just got home from being in Japan for a month so at least he is sitting still while on the phone.

Supplies (all SU)
Stamps: Holidays&Wishes, Wild about you
Paper: in color textured cardstock bases, purely pomegranate, soft sky, certainly celery
Patterned Paper: Cutie Pie
Ink: blue bayou, basic black, purely pomegranate
Accessories: 1 3/8" punch, 1 1/4" punch

House Warming

Ian and I went to a house party for friends' that just moved into their first place together. I made them this card and also gave them a gift of an aroma warmer from PartyLite with some melts and tealights. Ian thought we should get them a bottle of wine, I would usually agree however, the hostess is expecting her first child in April and I think giving her a gift she can't enjoy is cruel.

The sketch for this card came from AmyR's blog and Friday sketch challenge AmyRS11.

Supplies
Stamps: Right at Home - SU! (retired)
Paper: close to cocoa, chocolate chip, purely pomegranate, whisper white
Ink: Palette noir black, SU! markers with blender pen

I choose to do the two challenges together. My new Two Scoops paper by Basic Grey just happened to have the colors of wild wasabi, pretty in pink and bashful blue in it. The scallop piece is from Doodlebug Paper Frills.

My Hanna Notebook!

I altered this notebook as I was using it to keep track of the release dates and all my notes from the Design Team for Hanna Stamps. I found this 'Hannah' rhinestone name at the scrapbook store in Edmonton. I knew exactly where I would use it, once I remove the last 'h'. (names by memory big ideas)

I also altered this item tonight so I could link it to Kimmie's Kreation Challenge #1 on for Kimmie's blog celebration for her blog anniversary and '29th' birthday.

For anyone that has used the Heidi Swapp ghostly shapes or alphabets - how do you attach them? I used these 2 small butterflies as they fit in my create-a-sticker xyron ...... do I need the big one?

I also had to submit my stamp club order. I am excited to get some new stamp sets, papers and free SAB sets as Sale-a-brations started today.
